Testing

Figure skating in the U.S. can be either competitive or recreational, and those learning to skate can choose either route. While competitive skaters are required to participate in the U.S. testing structure to eventually compete in qualifying competitions, recreational skaters can also opt to take tests in order to continually challenge themselves and their abilities.

The official tests of U.S. Figure Skating may be taken by all figure skaters who are members of a member club or collegiate club, individual members who are currently registered with U.S. Figure Skating and are otherwise qualified, as well as by members of a member association of the ISU.

Test sessions feature a panel of U.S. Figure Skating officials and offer skaters the opportunity to highlight their abilities and advance to the next level. When a skater passes the final test in each pathway, they earn the honor of becoming a U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist.

Per U.S. Figure Skating rules, tests can only be conducted through a member club. PISC partners with clubs in the Oregon Skating Council (OSC) to facilitate frequent in-person and virtual tests at the same price for any OSC club member at any member club's test.

PISC members may be eligible for test reimbursement through the club's Jack Snyder Memorial Fund or OSC's George C. Felton Fund.

Test Procedures

Skaters register for all OSC in-person and virtual testing registration through Entryeeze.

To register for a test outside of PISC, members must submit a permission form signed by the club's Test Chair.
